I hobbled towards the nearest tree my tired feet could find and quickly landed on it, so exhausted that I forgot to curl up my injured left foot. “oooh…” I let out a faint wail while I tucked t tightly to my side, finding balance on my healing right foot. Claws help. The good God did design us for perching. "Yes…" I thought aloud, a self ruing. "The good God…" I couldn’t easily belive how my friends, my only flock had cursed me to flying off with no protection or any place to go. Well, I showed them when I found skyland after a long, laborious flight. "I showed them, I did… I showed them… us vultures, we don’t got to stick together, no. I’m on me own now. I like it that way." I nodded sharply. I had decided on day eight of the painful migration here that I would look out for me self for now on. It would be a bit lonelier, but that’s what I decided. If I can’t trust me own flock, I won’t trust anyone. I haven’t a care in the world for anything but me own beak and that’s right good.
Bored, I worked my beak around a near branch, peeling off the bark and chewing it up in my mouth before spitting it out down below. "Watch your heads…" So far it wasn’t the most eventful lifestyle, but it sure beat that awful life I ran from. That’ll teach me to help a human pack… that’ll teach me... “And what’s this world got against me, eh?” I used the numb half of my bad foot to kick a dead branch down from the tree. There was still plenty of hate in me, sure. Betrayal doesn’t hit you soft; it hurts. It changed my entire nature, it did. Happy-go-lucky, was I but not anymore. You don’t last that long when you spend your strength smiling. You have to eat to live, watch to eat. That’s what I did. My eyes turned from my brooding thoughts to the golden earth below, shining deliciously at me. I smelled the hot air and searched for a cadaver to go along with it.
