* i t h i l a The Ithila flock is similar to Athens. They are the thinkers, more interested in gathering wisdom than fighting.
* a n o r e The Anore flock is similar to Sparta. They stress heroics and fighting heavily, and believe that the weak deserve to die.
* r a n k s To move up in rank, you have to earn it - in character. Each rank has a challenge that you must complete by role playing, the difficulty varying on how high up the rank is.
» Leader: The head of a flock. Those less than 15 seasons are NEVER considered for this position. · Requirement: Only achieved through audition or through a staff-judged fight.
» Second: Chosen by the leader as their successor. Usually considered the "top" warrior or messenger, organizes daily activities and carries out leader's commands. Those less than 15 seasons are NEVER considered for this position. · Requirement: Defeat an opponent in battle, using your skills or your wits. Preferably a warrior from the other flock, because those can be injured, but if one cannot be found, then a mock fight with a Warrior from their own flock can substitute (if possible, the current second). Preferably has leader's approval.
» Seer: Interprets signs and dreams sent by Skyflock. Also has healing abilities. Characters must be a healer before they can be a seer. · Requirement: Fly to the Steepground, and return with a feather, a stone, and a leaf, or decode a prophecy or sign from Skyflock correctly (these will be random events).
» Healer: Apprentice to the seer; is learning how to interpret messages from Skyflock and also learns how to care for sicknesses and injuries. Training usually lasts 3 seasons. · Requirement: Go and find three herbs that have healing properties, without assistance.
» Messengers: Either one or two. First and foremost they're used to send messages between flocks, but a second messenger can act as a spy. Always the fastest fliers. Characters must be a hunter before they can be a messenger. · Requirement: Go into the territory of the other flock, and return unnoticed with words spoken by the Leader, Second, or Seer. This information does not have to be important.
-- CUT OFF -- Everything above this line is not available for regular creation. The top rank you can start with is warrior. To get a higher rank, you must participate in character or through audition. Automatically rising without doing so is VERY rare.
» Warriors: The chosen profession for most birds. They protect the flock. Characters must be a hunter before they can be a warrior.
» Hunters: The first step to becoming a messenger or a warrior. Hunters catch and gather food for the flock. They are mentored by a current warrior or messenger. Typically less than 4-8 seasons.
» Elders: Birds who can no longer participate in regular flock activities due to old age.
» Storyteller: Though not a formal rank, it's usually filled. An elder who knows flocklore well and recounts legends and other stories.
