The below are just some traditions that characters of the Skyplace go through. This is a handy guide for role playing (;
» Skyflock. If you've read "Warriors," Skyflock is basically the bird version of Starclan. It's where you go when you die if you aren't evil (if you are evil, your soul supposedly gets trapped in the Deadwell). Skyflock birds guide their living descendants through dreams and other signs.
» Seasons. Time & age is measured in seasons on the Eighth Continent - not years or months. There are four seasons in a year. Thus, a character would not be 1 year old, they would be 4 seasons old.
» The First Flight. When chicks are 1 season old, they are taken to Skyground. If they are able to fly around the perimeter of the mountaintop, they are no longer considered chicks and they may name themselves. This is also when they may start training for a position in the flock.
» Terms. Here are some terms that characters would be likely to use. · Outlander: A bird not native to the Skyplace. · Anybeast: Collectively refers to all animals. · Anybird: Collectively refers to all birds. · Egg-breaker: A very harsh insult, so much so that it's practically viewed as a curse word. · Featherless: A mild insult that is usually disregarded. · Shards: A curse word. · Flies with: Used to describe mates and lovers. For example, 'Wingshadow flies with Drah Seir.' · Hen: A female who is taking care of or preparing for chicks. · Nesting: Mating / mating season. · Hatching: Birthing / birthing season. · Skyflock's blessings: Their version of "good luck."
