The crowd watched in awe as Susan and Caspian kissed. They embraced, for the last time, and then Susan joined her siblings as they passed through the tree...
Susan sat straight up in bed. She glanced around at the stone walls, covered with rich Telmarine tapestries, and at the linen sheets and then at the elaborate dresses laid out for her for the coronation that day. Just a dream. It was all just a dream. She was still here in Narnia.

For the Pevensies and the newly crowned King Caspian, there is no need to say goodbye - Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are staying in Narnia. After the second Battle of Beruna, and the coronation of Caspian as Narnia's newest king, Aslan has sent away the Telmarines that were willing. He made no mention of the Pevensies having to go "home" to England, except for in one of Susan's nightmares. It seems as though all is well.
But, in reality, losing his friends is the least of Caspian's worries. The Telmarines are not adjusting well to living with the animals they subjugated for over a thousand years, and the lords are trying to seize power out from under the new king while he is distracted by the prospect of romance. Arguments are escalating between the Telmarines and Old Narnians - who are now supposed to be united - and shadowed political corruption is taking hold. Narnia is on the brink of a civil war larger than one it has ever experienced. Alliances with places that have not been in contact with Narnia for a thousand years must be made, but first, the country itself must be rebuilt.
It will take all five of Narnia's kings and queens to heal the wounds left by a thousand years of bitter power struggles. Can they do it? Or will they have to say goodbye to peace... forever?
