Hakan flew on the edges of Goldenground, he had only been living in the area called the Skyplace for a season, but already knew more about the terrain than many born here. He had chosen his home to be a small plateau that was about the same size as a large tree, it had an opening close to the top of the plateau that was big enough for Hakan, and another bird his size, but he met his visitors on the plateau flat, that was big enough for several birds, so that he could meet anyone comfortably. The sun was close to setting, but it would stay in the sky for a heart-cycle, or what his former master the would call an hour. Because they other Harpy Eagles on this island were secretive and loners who lived where most others could not venture, Hakan was an irregularity and often had visitors, from both clans. Hakan circled his plateau and landed, looking out at the expanse of desert that reminded him so much of where he had spent his first few seasons.

"speak, speak?" "think, think?"BIO||-Lexiss-The Goldengrounds of the Ithilaen territory were wide and warm. Hot air drifted upward in lazy spirals, allowing him to coast easily into the sky. His primaries twitched, and his tail feathers spread apart to catch the warm currents. Warm, moving air currents allowed him to travel with no flapping, with no problems, and with little interruption. Actually, the flight was almost so lazy, that at one point he nearly dozed off in midair.
That would've been bad, however, so Lexiss kept himself alert by flapping. Feeling the ache in his muscles reminded him to stay afloat. His easily small frame could get him mistaken as a songbird, as food fit as prey. While he had excellent talons and a sharp beak to defend himself, deep down, he knew he was not prepared to encounter larger birds of prey, like golden eagles.
Blue-gray eyes traveled downward, scanning the ground. He was looking for plants, and maybe a bite to eat. Size wasn't everything - not even twenty centimeters tall, and he could take out any bird or snake. Well, not big birds and snakes, but anything he can lift. And Lexiss had watched his adoptive father lift up prey three times his weight. While he himself didn't want to try anybeast that big, he knew he would have to eat at some point. Angling his secondaries and the tips of the primaries in his wings allowed him to find a draft that was heading in a downwardly direction. With ease, he approached the ground, and landed on the top of one of the taller cacti. From here, he could easily be spotted, but he could also spot anything coming. Tiny talons shifted, being gentle of the spines, and Lexiss looked on at the place.
Scanning, scanning. Maybe he should look for that cactus with the purple fruit. The fruit could be used for something, he was sure; it was so unique, and different, from everything else. It's taste was sharp, he knew, and it grew on a cactus that had very odd looking leaves. Like platelets.
"Perhaps they could be used for wounds," Lexiss thought, his head twisting to look for any spot of purple. The fruit's juices had been smoothing going down his throat - perhaps the same could be told for the outside skin and feathers.
Perhaps. --- three hundred eight-four words a post for Hakan {Captain} Lexiss&Post © Jairel, 2009[/size]

From his lofty perch Hakan could see for miles and miles, and as always Hakan was quick to notice any irregularities in his territory. The tiny falcon wasn't far from Hakan's perch, but it was obvious that he was weary. Hakan rose, flying quickly to the cacti that the small falcon had used as a perch.
"Good day to you stranger, do you need a perch for the night? I am Hakan Koray, a new comer to these parts, but I have a comfortable home and welcome you to it." Hakan spoke with an exotic accent, some who had tried to insult Hakan said it was as if a snake spoke rather than a noble king of the sky. Hakan had replied, "I've meet snakes more noble than any other creature, so I thank you for the compliment." Hakan spoke again "It is most advisable stranger, as Goldenground is deceptive, it roasts you during the day, but chills you at night." Hakan glided easily in circles above the small falcon, showing how he was made not only for speed, but maneuverability also, just incase the falcon thought about attacking.
